This hostel is amazing. If you are looking for a nice, quiet, friendly place to meet other
travelers and feel at home then this is the place you should go. the staff is actually amazing and so helpful, especially sophie the manager!!!!! the rooms are huge and there is a lot of spcae between the beds so it doesnt feel like you are in a room with 6-8 people, the beds are comfortable, everything was clean. there is a really big fully equipped kitchen with free tea and coffee. the location is great, its at the oktagon which is about a 20 minute walk from the river, near a lot of tourist attractions, and has public transport to everywhere you need to go. basically just feels like a home, i would definitely stay here again and highly reccomend it for other travelers.
Just right, I found it was exactly what I wanted, not just somewhere to sleep, but an experience. Meeting people who are like minded and approachable staff. Quite funky decor, not sterile and generic...definitely homemade.xxx I will probably return with friends from home.x
We had a great experience here! Would highly recommend for solo travelers and other folks who are social but don't want the party to take place in the hostel itself :) The staff were all super nice. They gave us great recommendations and even a massive Easter breakfast! The rooms are very comfortable, and they provide towels - always a plus. Most important of all, it was an excellent location at the Oktogon. Close to metro, ruin pubs, and the river. Stay here if it's available!
Definitely one of the better hostels I've stayed. Clean, warm, and inviting--it also attracts a lot of really cool people! It's easy to meet others, especially as a solo traveler. The staff are great as well, fun and informing. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone coming to Budapest!
I had a great stay here. The location is convenient for tourist activities and there are a lot of restaurants and bars near by. The hostel is cozy and the beds are very comfortable. The staff was helpful and provided recommendations and other information about the city.
Liked: The location was perfect, the staff was great, and there were rings of fun things to do hosted by the hostel. I was traveling alone, and made friends easily. Free coffee, tea, linens, and a towel were great.
Disliked: I wish there was free breakfast, and a light in the stairwell for when you come home late.
The good: great location, close to metro and tram and within walking distance of major sites. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby, open late. Atmospheric old apartment building with an elegant staircase and courtyard - shabby chic! The hostel furnishings are spot-on, flea-market raiding cozy eccentric second-take Budapest at its best! The bad: lockers were made of pasteboard and didn't look secure; bathrooms often a bit soggy.
The location of the hostel is very convenient and is easily reached by public transport. Although a bit hard to find initially, their instructions are very clear! The hostel is full of really fun vintage items which adds to the homey feel of the place. The beds are super comfortable which is always a good thing! We had a great time staying in this place and made good use of their shared kitchen facilities at night. Only problem when we were there were noisy dorm room mates-which wasn't really the hostel's fault. The private apartment (we stayed there for a night too) was HUGE!
I loved the feel of the place. The decoration was vintage and hip at the same time. Most importantly the bathrooms were clean! The staff were very friendly and helpful. My only disappointment being that upon arrival we found our pillows were used by other members of the room. The staff did not do anything about retrieving those or arranging for proper pillows. He just got 2 sofa cushions from the lounge. Since we were paying 13.5 dollars (a little hefty for backpackers) a night just as the other boarders, we are entitled to get same facilities. If it was not possible to ask for the other borders for the pillows, at least there should be provisions for extra pillows.
It is quite difficult to find this place, if it wasn't for a tiny sign on the wall we would not have found it, we walked past it a number of times before noticing the small sign.
When we walked in it was like walking into someones lounge, with the curtains drawn and someone sleeping on the sofa.
However, the staff were helpful and friendly, allowing us to leave our bags as we were too early for check in.
We stayed in the apartment rather than the hostel itself, which has a separate entrance across the hallway. The Apartment itself had the same homely feel but much less cluttered and was very spacious and clean. There was noise from outside for most of the night as other reviews have said, however this really didn't bother us and didn't keep us awake at all.
For the price the apartment was really good value, with a brilliant location being within walking distance to all of the main places and on the edge of the Jewish quarter which is where all of the ruin bars are located.
As students we would probably stay again but only in the apartment. The apartment was more spacious and not so hippyfied despite my partner hating the fact the hot water cylinder was in the shower and this is no exageration! The electrics are so close its scary, thankfully we managed okay and didn't get electrocuted. Great city and we will definitely return one day.
